Our son, 23 year old John Bradley Breen, JB as everyone knew him, was killed in a crash on March 15, 2009 because he decided to text and drive.
JB, a Lance Corporal in the United States Marines was home on leave at the time of the crash and was preparing for deployment to Afghanistan. Sadly he leaves behind his parents, a sister and a beautiful 3 year old daughter.
Unfortunately two factors contributed to his preventable death, he was texting which caused the crash, and for some reason he was not restrained and was ejected suffering fatal injuries. JB always wore his seat belt but neglected to do so this trip, so please remember to: BUCKLE UP – EVERY TRIP – EVERY TIME!
According to authorities, when they located his cell phone it was still flashing with a message that he never had the chance to complete. He was in the middle of a word when the collision occurred. We know this because of the time on the phone along when it turned off and the time his folks received their life altering phone call.
We want to help spread the message to ALL people how extremely dangerous text messaging and driving is. If we can prevent one more death it will be worth it. There isn't a day that goes by we don't miss our son, and wish he would have put the phone down as his father had asked him to do just hours prior to the crash. Please don't let distracted driving become your nightmare.
SAFE DRIVING IS NOT EXPENSIVE, IT'S PRICELESS!
